Maybe the best way to understand the “99%” of Kabbalah is to compare it to a Jungian concept: Synchronicity – Synchronicity is “the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.” 1 (Oxford Languages)
Last week, my daughter called and told me that she planted a cactus for me in an owl planter at her front entrance. She knows that the owl has special significance to me. It is my “power animal” or animal from the spirit world from Native American and European Shamanism. A few moments later, I opened my front door to water the plants and found an owl feather stuck in the drainage grill in front of our doorway.

We both laughed when I phoned her. We agreed that our homes would be protected against any future chaos. We “got” the “99%” or synchronicity.

The challenge that we face is linking the consciousness of the 99% (our thoughts, visions, and hunches or what is unseen or beyond the 5 senses)
with the 1% physical world that is often bereft with chaos. These negative happenings in day-to-day life interfere with our fulfillment on a personal and societal level.
A situation may stem from an “unhealthy” thought form – for example, the belief: “I am a victim.” No matter what changes occur in the outer world, it often does not significantly change the unhealthy thought form created by our minds. Typically, a person with this mindset proceeds to find more examples of victimization to match the unhealthy thought form until it is transformed or “reframed” in behavioral terms.
Let’s take a controversial example from our present world. A young man may think, ” I am a victim of police brutality so all police are brutally violent.” Even if this young man is presented with statistical evidence to the contrary, his mindset will often resist the findings. He will continue to look for examples that support his stance.
I’d like to leave with this “Food for thought.” How can we begin to transform unhealthy or reactive thought forms on a personal and societal level to more healthy, proactive ones, especially in these chaotic times?

“One day Rabbi Chiyya was sitting at the passageway leading to the gate of Usha. He noticed Rabbi El’ azar walking by and that a bird was hovering over his head as he walked. Rabbi Chiyya remarked to him: “It appears that even when you are walking in the road, everyone yearns to follow in your footsteps, including the animals. ” Rabbi El’ azar turned his head to see the bird and replied, “Certainly this bird has come as a messenger from God, for God communicates through all varieties of messengers.”
